What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about DESEAN JACKSON: California, 5096 169 4.40. Junior entry. Three-year starter with rare foot quickness. Has instant and immediate burst and acceleration. Dangerous in the jail break screens, hitches, and underneath routes to slip a tackle and take it the distance. Cal tries to get him the ball in a variety of ways. Will reach and extend for an off target pass. Will run reverses to put pressure on the defense. Elusive and speedy. Dependable hands. Quick in and out of routes. Should contribute as a punt returner if he can stay healthy. Not a blocker, tries to get in the way but is not willing. Lacks strength to break tackles or stay on course. Explosive in the open field. Can be routed because of his slender build. Will struggle with cover two press coverage on the next level. Needs route refinement on NFL caliber patterns. Is far from a finished product. Has a load of natural talent but may be in the tub or on injured reserve for much of his career. Durability, strength, and the ability to carry his pads will always be a question. Appears to be injured after every catch. Is he mentally and physically tough? Talent warrants high grade. OSR:18/52. First/second round. (A-29 3/4, H-9 3/8, SS-4.19, VJ-34).
