Draft Rewind 2011 - Mike Pouncey - Miami Dolphins
By
proscoutdan
Posted at
7:47 AM
What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about MIKE POUNCEY: Florida, 6053 303 5.18. Three-year starter. Twin brother of Steelers’ first round draft choice Maurkice Pouncey. Our top guard or center, but is versatile enough to back up every position on the offensive line. Some ball clubs prefer him at guard and others at center. He struggled on short snaps in the shotgun where every snap was an adventure early in 2010. Can turn the down defender with strong leg action and sure hands. Good effort and body control. Effective downfield on the Utah pass. Good in space to adjust and sustain his block. Powerful blocker who can roll his hips to shock and control the down defender. Too tall to bend and play with leverage at center. Feisty and competitive. Plays with an ornery streak. Relishes contact. A mauler on down blocks. Good hip and knee flexibility at guard where he can change direction and move in on a moving target and finish his block. Good effort to seal on the second level and block downfield. Good lateral agility and quickness versus a slant move. Explosive punch and use of hands. Gains control and locks out. Has the ability to create separation. Plays on his feet. In pass protection he plays in a pre-set stance with a good base and balance. Can slide, mirror, and adjust his feet. As a freshman he moved from the offensive line to the defensive line because of injuries and played in every game. Did not bench by his choice. OSR:35/49. First/second round. (A-32 1/4, H-9 3/4, BP-DNP, 10-1.80).

Draft Rewind 2010 - Major Wright - Chicago Bears
By

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about MAJOR WRIGHT: Florida, 5114 206 4.47. Junior entry. Three-year starter. If the adage “first impressions are lasting” you will be unable to forget Major Wright exploding on the scene in the 2009 National Championship game against Oklahoma. He put a splash hit on receiver Juaquin Iglesias. What was just as impressive as the impact hit, was the timing of the collision to knock the ball out. Wright was penalized for a helmet to helmet hit, but his reputation as a big hitter was immortalized. He plays the game with intensity and passion. More athletic and faster in person than on tape. Has above average hip flexibility to turn and run deep. Not as smooth as a corner but more efficient than most safeties. Good football intelligence. Accurate key and quick reaction to what he reads. Has a nose for the ball. In a nutshell, he is a big hitting safety that needs to work on coverage skills. Will contribute on special teams. Good durability. Over his career he had 165 tackles, 10 passes broken up, 8 interceptions, and 4 forced fumbles. BTR:left 4.50, right 4.43. OSR:8/21. Third/ fourth round. (A-31, H-9 3/4, VJ-37.5, SS-4.38).

Draft Rewind 2007 - Reggie Nelson - Cincinnati Bengals
By

7:00 AM
What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about REGGIE NELSON: Florida, 5113 198 4.53. Early
entry. Two-year starter, JC transfer. Athletic, aggressive, tough, and fast.
Similar in size to Eagles’ Brian Dawkins. A solid senior year elevated his
stock. He is a rangy sideline to sideline athlete that can cover ground quickly.
Improved his ability to read and rect. May be more learned than instinctive.
Explosive force in the secondary. Initiates contact. Physically touch and
aggressive. Intense. Body control as a tackler has improved. A competitive
athlete that goes all out and gives effort to play coverage and get in on play.
Will contribute on special teams. Will need repetitions. Will need to improve
technique in every phase of his game. Out of control as a tackler at times. Has
come a long way in a year. Previously struggled to read and react to plays in
front of him. Coming from junior college he was not a technique oriented player
and had to learn how to back pedal, keep a good base, stay in his pedal as long
as possible, and to transition out of his pedal. Footwork, run support angles,
and tackling were well below average. A raw athlete that is still developing
cover skills and reads. It was a credit to his hard work on and off the field
that he elevated his game from a late second day pick to an early first day
choice. First round. (A-33 3/4, H-8 5/8, SS-4.15, VJ-34.5).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about BRANDON SILER: Florida, 6016 241 4.55. Junior entry. True junior, has not been red-shirted. A physical and instinctive inside run stuffer. A sideline to sideline player with good athletic ability. Has the speed to run the ball carrier down from behind. Takes good angles downfield. Good lateral foot quickness. Nose for the ball. Clears his feet and is quick through traffic. A disruptive player with good field awareness in coverage. Sudden plant and drive on the ball in front of him. Demonstrates the speed and hips to cover tight ends and backs man to man. Good vision awareness. Quick to recognize patterns and get a jump on the ball. Lacks size and height for position. Will need to improve his overall body play strength. Plays with good knee bend. An every down linebacker with good and quick feet. Explosive run through hitter. Works through the blocks and makes plays. Good agility in traffic. Downhill player that fills the running lanes. Stops blocks and can run. Will get hung up on guards at times. Always around the ball. Athletic and productive. Good field vision and burst on blitz. Second round. (A-34 3/4, H-10 1/8, BP-23, SS-4.39).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about JERMAINE CUNNINGHAM: Florida, 6033 266 4.75. Three-year starter that played with his hand down but has the ability to play standing up over a tight end (Sam linebacker). Long arms and big hands. Good initial quickness from his stance to the opponent. Everything about this player is sudden - lateral quickness, foot quickness, and hand quickness. Can accelerate off a block and burst to the quarterback. Strong effort to rush the quarterback. Flexible enough to turn the corner low and flatten the edge. Then he accelerates to the ball. Makes plays once he gets up the field. Has the ability to go to a second move. Hands up in the pass rush. Consistent and tenacious pass rush effort every down. Will contribute on special teams coverage. Had 152 tackles, 34 for loss, 19 1/2 sacks, and 5 forced fumbles in his career. Did not work out at the Combine because of shoulder surgery. Third/fourth round. (A-33 3/4, H-10 3/8, BP-DNP, 10-DNP).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about PATRICK ROBINSON: Florida, 5111 190 4.44. Twenty-five starts over the past three years. Big corner that is physical and can run. Plays the boundary corner and is alert enough to use the sideline as the 12th man in the running game. Intercepted six passes in 2007, including one each in five consecutive games. Has made big plays over his career, including blocking PATs that were returned for scores. Has the speed to run backs down from behind. Takes good pursuit angles on plays away from him. A good athlete with foot quickness and hip flexibility. Good change of direction and recoverability. He can stick his foot in the ground and drive off quickly. Sticky man cover ability. Flashes a quick burst and acceleration speed. Appears to have a strong upper body. Locks out his arms and separates from blockers. Willing tackler that will wrap up. Shows good awareness to recognize offensive set tendencies and react quickly to his keys. Plays with poise and confidence. Maintains good position on the receiver. Sudden support in the run game. Wards off low blocks, sheds, and makes plays. Should contribute on all special teams coverage units. Better in press cover-two rather than playing off man to man. Has 117 tackles, 21 pass breakups, and 7 interceptions in his career. BTR:left 4.56, right 4.71. OSR:7/29. First/second round. (A-30 1/2, H-8 1/2, VJ-39, SS-4.29).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about BRANDON SPIKES: Florida, 6027 249 5.00. Three-year starter with good instincts and the tools to star on Sunday. Collision tackler that is always around the ball. Opponent’s game plan for him is to try and wall him off and cut him. Had four interceptions, returning two for touchdowns in 2008. Runs through ball carrier when tackling. Active in both the run game and pass coverage. Can run with backs in man to man coverage. Quick to break up on the ball in front of him. Scrapes quickly to the outside and cuts off the backs’ angles. Works his way through traffic and can hold his ground on plays directly at him. Tough, aggressive, and competitive. Plays with knee bend and has the quickness to shuffle and make plays parallel to the line of scrimmage. Strong enough to tackle the ball carrier and the blocker. Productive with 307 tackles over the past three years. Football smart with good work ethic and a passion for the game. Long arms and big hands to control the blockers. His ability to read and react quickly makes up for his lack of track speed. Has had several tipped passes in his career because of his savvy to get into the throwing lane. A strong vocal leader. Did not work out at the Combine. First round. (A- 33 3/8, H-10, BP-DNP, SS-DNP).

Draft Rewind 2010 - Tim Tebow - Denver Broncos
By
proscoutdan
Posted at
8:07 AM
What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about TIM TEBOW: Florida, 6026 236 4.70. Three-year starter that may be the most decorated football player in college football history. Left handed passer. Plays in an option oriented offense where the quarterback’s feet and legs are key to the offense; the edge type spread-the-field scheme that features option, running the corner, and ball control passing. Big, strong, smart, and athletic with rare intangibles. Rotated his freshman year with Chris Leak. Has directed the Gators to two national championships in three years. Only player in NCAA history to rush and pass for at least 20 touchdowns in a season. Physically and mentally tough. A take charge guy that leads his teammates. Consistent and reliable. Performs under pressure. Plays with confidence. Durable. Can shake off arm tackles and take a hit. Disciplined with the football. Loves to play quarterback. Has a feel for the game. Can make a flat-footed throw with a man in his face. Has the ability to make defenders miss and still see the field. Can make a good situation out of a bad one. Played with a new group of receivers in 2009. A competitor with will, passion, and fire to get the job done. Can read coverages but will work to master the NFL complexities. Throws strikes when he has a clean pocket as a drop back passer, but has the ability to throw on the run. Accurate short and medium. Has a variety of deliveries. Will need to work on all the nuances of NFL quarterback play. Innate ability to respond to change. Elevates the performance of everyone around him. Can shuck pass rushers that try to tackle him high. Not easy to tackle. Good running instincts. Can hit the deep square in and skinny post in the seam. Good poise and patience. Throws a wobbly but catchable ball. Has pocket presence to step up as the rush goes around him. Has touch on swing passes. Part of being a successful NFL quarterback is the ability to throw from a variety of deliveries. Tebow can do that. He does drop the ball down below his waist, then brings the ball up to release the pass. The wasted motion hinders a quick strike through a narrow window of opportunity. Career stats include a 66.4% completion rate, completing 661 of 995 attempts for 9285 yards, 88 touchdowns, and just 16 interceptions, rushing 692 times for 2947 yards and 57 touchdowns. OSR: 1/16. Second round. (A- 31 3/4, H-10 1/8, SS-4.18, VJ-38.5).

Ran a pedestrian time at the Combine but came back with a 4.45 on Florida’s pro day. Confident and challenges receivers. Competitive playmaker. Consistent wrap tackler. Well built with long arms. Good functional strength. Can walk up nose to nose with any of the receivers the Gators faced. Has loose hips and quick feet. Has smooth turns with acceleration and catch up speed. Keeps position on receiver. Will battle for ball. Goes for the strip. Tough minded and accepts a challenge. Does not shy away from contact. Good body control and ball skills. Career marks include 218 tackles, 34 passes broken up, 8 interceptions, and 3 forced fumbles. BTR:left 4.41, right 4.43. OSR:19/29. First round. (A-32 3/4, H-9 1/2, VJ-35, SS-4.35).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about MARCUS THOMAS: Florida, 6026 314 4.96. Three-year starter that was suspended for violating substance abuse policy. He was later dismissed from the team permanently. Explosive and powerful upfield push. Gets penetration and knocks off power running game. Always around the ball. Plays with a high motor. Can stack a double team and hold the point of attack. Strong enough to clog up the middle in the running game and pushes the pocket in the passing game. Keeps feet alive until the whistle blows. Takes good angles. An active face up tackle. Thick butt and legs. Tough on the edge of a blocker. Plays low. Good initial quickness. Makes plays. Plays under his pads and with leverage. Intense and relentless. Sudden on twist stunts. Has long arms. Off field red flags. Gained 5-7 pounds after he was dismissed from team. Played in the Texas versus Nation All-Star game on February 2, 2007. Weighed in at 303. The top defensive interior player heading into the fall. Athletic and skilled. Had an outstanding junior year and came back to increase his draft stock. Draft status will be determined by each team. Before the dismissal he was described as a team player and a great young man. A tough kid that is a self starter. High risk and high reward player. Many questions need to be answered. Second round. (A-33 3/4, H-9 1/4, BP-27, 10-DNP).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about PERCY HARVIN: Florida, 5111 192 4.41. Junior entry. Two-and-a-half years as a starter. Big play utility athlete. Playmaker with rare speed. Built like a running back. Outstanding running skills and vision after catch. A hand catcher with soft hands to snatch the ball. Natural receiving skills. Has the feet to get his body in position to catch the ball. Can catch high, low, and behind. Runs a limited amount of patterns. Will need development on all the downfield routes. Has an upfield burst and strong leg drive. Used on counters and reverses. Threat as a runner. Can make people miss. Flashes blocking ability. Usually has his hands on the ball. Excellent leaper. Can catch a ball in a crowd. Will run crossers over the middle. Can take a hit and hold on to ball. No holdup on the line. Quick acceleration and footwork. Has the moves to elude. Has football intelligence. Most ball clubs want a receiver over six feet unless they are special. Harvin will only limit a great career by his decisions on and off the field. May have to be drafted by a team with a strong locker room. High maintenance player that has a problem with authority. Has an injury history including ankle, neck, hamstring, and heel problems. OSR:12/38. First/second round. (A-31 5/8, H-9 3/8, VJ-37.5, SS-DNP).

By

8:00 AM
Three-year starter who has the awareness to recognize and analyze offensive set tendencies and react quickly to his keys. Sudden to read and react. By all rules of measurement, Black is too small and slow to play on the next level. He rated 21 out of 21 safeties athletically at the Combine. However, when he gets on the field he is a playmaking dynamo. He has a fierce sense of competition. Plays with confidence and poise. Mentally tough and is dedicated to football. Has a high reaction IQ. Plays faster than timed speed. Instincts knock off two 100ths off his 40- time. Productive over his career with 12 interceptions and the Gators’ leading tackler. Makes plays by stripping the ball, playing through blockers on run support to make a tackle, and timing up his run through blitz to be disruptive or make a sack. Plays with foot and burst quickness. Drives suddenly on the ball. An active and aggressive tackler. Will be an asset on all special teams coverage units. For complete report see Ourlads Guide to the NFL Draft.

Gilbert, Marcus Florida 6064 329 5.45
Two-year starter. Started at right tackle in 2009, moved to left
tackle in 2010. A big man with good athletic ability. Works to
keep his hands inside on the breast plate. Plays balanced with a
good base in pass protection. Will get beat around the edge if he
doesn’t get enough depth to wall off a wide rusher. When pulling
he is athletic enough to get through the traffic, tag his target,
and stay on his feet. Has experience at both guard and tackle.
May be a right tackle only where he plays with more confidence.
Plays with better than average foot quickness in pass protection.
Can quick set and force separation with a solid punch. Plays
with good effort and athletic ability. Must sustain longer to be
effective consistently in the run game. Has a tendency to lose
his knee bend and play upright as a pass protector. Has a chance
to be an eventual starter at right tackle if he plays with consistent
overall technique in the pass and run games.

ability to read and react consistently to what he sees.
Undisciplined in his play and can get caught out of position.
Can be fooled on play action. Has more red flags than the
Russian Embassy. May or may not be drafted.

For each position below, we have ranked the players listed by
a special Ourlads’ formula we call OSR. When a prospect has an OSR rating
of 15/17, for example, he rated 15th out of the 17 athletes at his position.
Athletes are listed by position alphabetically. Each workout field is weighted
