Draft Rewind 2010 - Selvish Capers - Washington Redskins

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about SELVISH CAPERS: West Virginia, 6045 308 5.16. Two-and-a-half year starter. Former tight end. An above average athlete that doesn’t play to those numbers. Inconsistent anchor. May project to a right tackle or guard on the next level. Struggles with his footwork. Drops his hands and lacks foot quickness in pass protection. Needs more upper and lower body strength. Long arms and big hands. Plays in a spread offense. Lines up in a preset stance. Inconsistent angles to the second level. Plays on his feet. Question his balance and agility for a player with his athletic numbers. An underachiever that has the tools to play on Sunday. Developmental project. OSR:11/40. Fourth/fifth round. (A-34, H-10, BP-19, 10-1.78).

Chris Neild, Washington Redskins, 253rd Pick, 7th Round, 2011 NFL Draft

Neild, Chris West Virginia 6015 319 5.06
Three-year starter. A blue collar worker who sheds quickly and hustles to the ball. Stacks the block in the hole. Can read blocks and has the footwork and feet to get leverage. Good awareness for draws and screens. Reminds us of Kelly Gregg, the Ravens’ nose tackle, when he came out of Oklahoma. Ran a 4.46 20- yard shuttle at the Combine. Always around the ball. Outstanding agility and change of direction. Quick feet. Explosive with quick reactions. Durable to hold up at a tough position. He does a lot of close quarter fighting. Quick to shed and stack. Good balance and upper body strength. Competitor. Good mental alertness to angle and trap blocks. Played nose tackle in a 3-5-3 defensive scheme. Good feel, reach, and react. Eats up blockers. Explosive use of hands – jolt, control, and uses them with authority. Plays with the intensity and desire to make every play. Good effort in downfield pursuit. A good athlete with huge hands. JT Thomas, Chicago Bears, 195th Pick, 6th Round, 2011 NFL Draft

Thomas, JT West Virginia 6010 241 4.65
Three-year starter as the weakside linebacker in a 3-5-3 defensive scheme. Intense and athletic in his play. Has experience in a variety of stunt packages. Has a quick take off. Good use of hands, speed, and quickness. Can adjust on the move. Has a burst to the quarterback. Good timing and anticipation. Uses speed moves to race through the creases and gaps. Will throw his body into a ball carrier. Takes good pursuit angles and will wrap up. Can track and trail in man coverage or drop square in underneath zones. A tough guy mentally and physically. Will play hurt. Will contribute on special teams coverage units. For complete report see Ourlads Guide to the NFL Draft.

Robert Sands, Cincinnati Bengals, 134th Pick, 5th Round, 2011 NFL Draft

Sands, Robert West Virginia 6045 217 4.55
Junior entry. Three-year starter who is tall and a long strider. A leggy safety who struggles to bend his knees and break down to make a tackle or change directions. Plays in a 3-3-5 defensive scheme. Not quick-footed. Takes inconsistent angles to the ball. His height and long arms are a positive asset in the seams and underneath coverage where the quarterback must throw over the top of him. Not shy on run support. Will hit and wrap at times. At other times he thinks a big shoulder hit will get a back down. Marginal hip flexibility and recoverability. Double clutches at times in closing quickness. Has an injury history. A good athlete who is aggressive and undisciplined in his play. Has better than average hands to catch the ball. For complete report see Ourlads Guide to the NFL Draft.

Brandon Hogan, Carolina Panthers, 98th Pick, 4th Round, 2011 NFL Draft

Hogan, Brandon West Virginia 5102 192 4.50
Three-year starter coming off left ACL surgery on 12/28/10. Good speed and quickness. Has been inconsistent most of his career in his coverage skills. Plays in a 3-5-3 defensive scheme where he plays a zone corner. Physical in run support. Quick to break up on ball in front of him. Good tackler. An undisciplined playmaker. Can track and run with receivers in his zone. Good short area quickness. Has the speed to run vertically. Needs more upper body strength to ward off blockers. Developmental corner. For complete report see Ourlads Guide to the NFL Draft.

Noel Devine, 2011 Undrafted Free Agent, Running Back

Devine, Noel West Virginia 5080 179 4.50
Three-year starter. Third down type back who will contribute
on special teams. An open field runner who prospers in space.
Quick and slippery. When healthy he showed his rare speed.
Quick stop and start moves. Played in a Pistol type spread
offense where he was hard to see. Has the speed to turn the
corner. Caught several shovel passes in 2009 where he burst up
the field. Once into the secondary, he weaves and bends his runs.
Can jump cut in the hole going forward. Jitterbug quickness. Not
afraid to block, but size limits his productivity. Rare foot
quickness. Rushed for 4317 yards in his career. Durability will
always be a question.
