By

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about JD WALTON: Baylor, 6025 300 5.23. A three-year starter that transferred from Arizona State. Has done both the shotgun snap in the spread and conventional snap to the quarterback under center. Position/wall off type blocker. Creates inside running lanes by turning the down defender. Solid on the block back or “choke” block. Plays on his feet. Good agility and balance in close quarters. Plays with a good base and works to finish his blocks. Will drop his head at times in pass protection but generally slides and adjusts his mirror to wall off defender. Good hand quickness to lock out and position hands on the breast plate and get push on his target. Strong and crafty, but needs to be more consistent with his ability to recover and anchor in pass protection. Good arm length for position. Can improve his lower body strength to anchor a bull rush. Generally plays with good knee bend. Consistent, tough, smart, and has outstanding leadership qualities. OSR: 27/40. Third/ fourth round. (A-33 3/8, H-9 1/4, BP-24, 10-1.79).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about DEMARYIUS THOMAS: Georgia Tech, 6032 224 4.60. Junior entry. Three-year starter. Big receiver in a run first spread triple option offense. Big play receiver that had seven of his catches go for at least 50 yards in 2009. Will reach and extend for the ball outside his frame. Average quickness off the line of scrimmage to beat bump coverage and burst upfield to separate. Saw a lot of single coverage because of the offensive scheme running the ball. Has the size and strength to run the inside slant and dig routes. Has run after catch ability to break a tackle or make a defender miss a tackle. Good football intelligence to learn to line up in different alignments. Will need work on reading coverages and adjusting his routes according to the play. Long strider that picks up speed as he goes down the field. Has big soft hands but will drop the easy catch when not focused. Perfunctory blocking effort. Average quickness into and out of his breaks. Inconsistent to drop weight. May miss all spring workouts because of fractured left foot. Averaged 25.1 yards per catch on 46 receptions and had 8 touchdowns in 2009. Second/ third round. (A-33, H-10 1/2, VJ-DNP, SS-DNP).

Draft Rewind 2011 - Von Miller - Denver Broncos
By

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about VON
MILLER: Texas A&M, 6025 237
4.60. Three-year starter who is a productive 3-4 outside pass rusher. Butkus
Award winner in 2010. May be a Will flow type linebacker who plays stacked
behind a defensive end, but has a knack and desire to rush the passer. Moved
around in the Aggie defense to take advantage of match-ups and alignments to
blitz and pressure the quarterback. Has blitzed and pressured the quarterback
from an inside stand up position as well as playing up or down in a 3- point
stance off the edge. Good balance and body control. Good lateral quickness and
reactions. Accelerates to the ball. Good burst after initial contact. Can force
a hurry or cause havoc in the backfield. Quick penetrator on the goal line.
Outstanding first step quickness and timing to fly up the field. No run
responsibility on pass downs. Because of his size he will get tied up on big
offensive tackles at times and get bounced around. The defense played a more
Pittsburgh Steeler type scheme in 2010, featuring a variety of zone blitzes,
pressures, and aggressive play. Miller lined up in the Aggie “Jack” position as
a roving linebacker and dropped back in coverage. Demonstrates ability to play
over a tight end and get leverage on the block. Locks up at times getting
upright looking for the ball instead of defeating the block and getting to the
ball. Uses his hands well and gets separation. Good upper body strength. Has a
quick first step and gets upfield in a hurry. Shows good pass rush tools and the
ability to turn the corner to get to the quarterback. Fluid for the most part in
linebacker drills. Lacks sudden change of direction and will struggle in space
at times on the perimeter. Has a nose for the football and can run down a back
getting outside. Physical hitter with a good burst to the ball. Needs some
coverage work as his depth of drop was inconsistent and he did not always take
good angles reacting on the throw. Plays like a classic 3-4 outside linebacker
as his strengths are what is needed at that position. At his best on the edge
rushing the passer. He led the country in 2009 with 17 sacks and had 5 1/2 TFL
among his 48 hits. 2010 stats: 68 tackles, 10 1/2 sacks, 17 1/2 TFL, 3 FF, 6
PBU, 1 INT. Edge speed:left 1.90, right 1.88. OSR:1/ 19. First round. (A-34, H-9
1/2, BP-21, SS-4.06).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about ERIC DECKER: Minnesota, 6031 217 4.55. Started
33 games over career. Big physical receiver that can take a hit. A good enough
athlete to have a future at pro football or pro baseball. Injured in the Ohio
State game and was lost for the rest of the year. Holds the Gophers’ career
reception record. Will go up at the high point for the ball or lay out. Holds
the ball after collision. Strong hands to snatch the ball. Excellent eyehand
coordination to adjust to an off target pass. A consistent hand catcher that
will double move defensive backs. Quick in and out of his breaks. Will stalk and
mirror defensive backs down the field. Physical receiver with good focus. Strong
run after catch ability. Draft status may be affected by Lisfranc foot surgery.
In 2009 had 50 catches for 758 yards, 15.2 yards per catch, and 5 touchdowns.
Did not work out at the Combine due to left foot surgery. Third round talent.
(A-31, H-9 1/8, VJ-DNP, SS-DNP).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about ZANE BEADLES: Utah, 6043 307 5.35. Four-year starter. Plays left tackle, but is projected to move inside to guard. Plays in a spread offense. Smooth footwork in pass protection with good body quickness, change of direction, and the ability to redirect and recover. Starts in a preset two-point stance. Plays with good arm extension. Physical, blue collar player that will maul a defender in the running game at times. Plays with a good base in both the running game and pass protection. Quick enough to cut off an inside slant move. Smooth feet in transition on twist or “x” stunts. Flashes an explosive punch. Can run the pass rusher up the field and around the quarterback. Asked to cut block in the spread formation. Rarely overextends as a run blocker. Brings his feet with him. A forced knee bender that stays engaged. Locks on the breast plate and steers the defender. A technique savvy player that is a strong run blocker. Ties up pass rushers. Effective in pass pro to mirror and slide his feet. Plays square to defender. Value comes with his intelligence and ability to be a guard and an emergency tackle. A 4-for-1 player. Did not work out at the Combine due to a right hamstring strain. Third/fourth round. (A- 33 3/4, H-9 3/4, BP-27, 10-1.85).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about ELVIS DUMERVIL: Louisville, 5113 257 4.75. Two-year starter. Good lateral quickness. Gets pressure on the quarterback. Shorter than ideal. Fast twitch player that works through blocks, not around them. Looked awkward in his spin move. Plays with leverage. Holds his ground by playing low and with leverage. Athletic movements. Locks out and plays on his feet. Good effort to chase the ball. Strong upper body. Average arm length for position. Disruptive player with sudden first step quickness. Not a special athlete. Can be worn down by big tackles. Had 20 sacks through first seven games, none in the last four. Keeps his hands and feet moving on rush. Will compete. Good motor. Fourth/fifth round. (A- 32 5/8, H-9 1/8, BP-30, 10-1.66).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about CHRIS KUPER: North Dakota, 6043 301 5.10. Three-year starter. Tough, quick-footed, physical, and competitive. Showed good quickness, but has a tendency to get high on pulls. Quick learner in the East-West game. Very coachable in practice. Seldom did he make the same mistake twice. Thick lower body. Is athletic and nimble-footed. Smooth to mirror and slide in pass protection. Good in space. Can read on the run and adjust in space. Only Guy Whimper and Daryn Colledge had better Combine workouts at the guard position. Explosive first step. Plays with leverage to position and wall off defender. Moves easily on second level. Good effort and body control. Can open his hips up and run the defender up the field. Raw in pass protection, but has the tools. Needs technique work. Good punch. Enjoys the game. Fourth or fifth round. (A-32 3/4, H-9 1/4, BP-30, 10-1.75).

Plays in an option oriented offense where the quarterback’s feet and legs are key to the offense; the edge type spread-the-field scheme that features option, running the corner, and ball control passing. Big, strong, smart, and athletic with rare intangibles. Rotated his freshman year with Chris Leak. Has directed the Gators to two national championships in three years. Only player in NCAA history to rush and pass for at least 20 touchdowns in a season. Physically and mentally tough. A take charge guy that leads his teammates. Consistent and reliable. Performs under pressure. Plays with confidence. Durable. Can shake off arm tackles and take a hit. Disciplined with the football. Loves to play quarterback. Has a feel for the game. Can make a flat-footed throw with a man in his face. Has the ability to make defenders miss and still see the field. Can make a good situation out of a bad one. Played with a new group of receivers in 2009. A competitor with will, passion, and fire to get the job done. Can read coverages but will work to master the NFL complexities. Throws strikes when he has a clean pocket as a drop back passer, but has the ability to throw on the run. Accurate short and medium. Has a variety of deliveries. Will need to work on all the nuances of NFL quarterback play. Innate ability to respond to change. Elevates the performance of everyone around him. Can shuck pass rushers that try to tackle him high. Not easy to tackle. Good running instincts. Can hit the deep square in and skinny post in the seam. Good poise and patience. Throws a wobbly but catchable ball. Has pocket presence to step up as the rush goes around him. Has touch on swing passes. Part of being a successful NFL quarterback is the ability to throw from a variety of deliveries. Tebow can do that. He does drop the ball down below his waist, then brings the ball up to release the pass. The wasted motion hinders a quick strike through a narrow window of opportunity. Career stats include a 66.4% completion rate, completing 661 of 995 attempts for 9285 yards, 88 touchdowns, and just 16 interceptions, rushing 692 times for 2947 yards and 57 touchdowns. OSR: 1/16. He was later dismissed from the team permanently. Explosive and powerful upfield push. Gets penetration and knocks off power running game. Always around the ball. Plays with a high motor. Can stack a double team and hold the point of attack. Strong enough to clog up the middle in the running game and pushes the pocket in the passing game. Keeps feet alive until the whistle blows. Takes good angles. An active face up tackle. Thick butt and legs. Tough on the edge of a blocker. Plays low. Good initial quickness. Makes plays. Plays under his pads and with leverage. Intense and relentless. Sudden on twist stunts. Has long arms. Off field red flags. Gained 5-7 pounds after he was dismissed from team. Played in the Texas versus Nation All-Star game on February 2, 2007. Weighed in at 303. The top defensive interior player heading into the fall. Athletic and skilled. Three-year starter who is a natural hand catcher with speed. An ascending talent with good ball skills and production. Well coached in reading coverages on the run. Fluid in his movement. Good body control on off target passes. Athletic after catch. Has some stop and go quickness. Can turn a short reception into a long gain. Has the speed to challenge the safeties in cover-two. A slot or H-back type tight end who needs to improve his blocking. Not an inline blocker where he is going to drive a defender off the ball. Gives effort as a position wall off blocker where he plays with knee bend and balance. Stays square. Light feet. Route running has improved over the past three years. Demonstrates good quickness on the break to separate from a defender. Ascending skills and production. For complete report see Ourlads Guide to the NFL Draft.

Three-year starter. Instinctive in his play. Quick to read and react. Plays square with leverage. Smart and aware. Wrap tackler. Has experience in both a 3-4 and a 4-3 scheme. Good recognition and reaction in zone coverage. Gains depth in his drop. Disciplined in both zone and man to man coverage. Keeps his body in good position. Can handle tight ends. Needs more upper body strength in his arms and shoulders to control blockers. Quick to fill and stuff a running lane. Has the agility to work through traffic in the run game. Productive and athletic in his play. National Football Foundation Scholar-Athlete Award in 2010. Plays well on all special teams coverage units. For complete report see Ourlads Guide to the NFL Draft.
