What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about DANNY WATKINS: Baylor, 6034 312 5.37. Two-year starter at left tackle. Transfer from Butte (CA) Junior College. Will be a 26-year old rookie. In his previous life he was a firefighter for four years before entering college. Physical in his play. Goes to the whistle. Plays square. Can lockout, sit down, and anchor a bull rush. What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about TODD HERREMANS: Saginaw Valley State, 6065 309 5.32. Three-year starter. Tall, smart tackle who struggles against edge speed. Has better than average set up quickness and anchor ability if he plays with good knee bend. Above average arm length. Demonstrates average agility and balance to handle good defensive ends. Draft Rewind 2008 - DeSean Jackson - Philadelphia Eagles

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about DESEAN JACKSON: California, 5096 169 4.40. Junior entry. Three-year starter with rare foot quickness. Has instant and immediate burst and acceleration. Dangerous in the jail break screens, hitches, and underneath routes to slip a tackle and take it the distance. Cal tries to get him the ball in a variety of ways. Will reach and extend for an off target pass. Will run reverses to put pressure on the defense. Elusive and speedy. Dependable hands. Quick in and out of routes. Should contribute as a punt returner if he can stay healthy. Not a blocker, tries to get in the way but is not willing. Lacks strength to break tackles or stay on course. Explosive in the open field. Can be routed because of his slender build. Will struggle with cover two press coverage on the next level. Needs route refinement on NFL caliber patterns. Is far from a finished product. Has a load of natural talent but may be in the tub or on injured reserve for much of his career. Durability, strength, and the ability to carry his pads will always be a question. Appears to be injured after every catch. Is he mentally and physically tough? Talent warrants high grade. OSR:18/52. First/second round. (A-29 3/4, H-9 3/8, SS-4.19, VJ-34).

Draft Rewind 2010 - Jamar Chaney - Philadelphia Eagles

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about JAMAR CHANEY: Mississippi State, 6006 241 4.58. Three-year starter. Missed the 2008 season with a broken ankle. Classic shuffle linebacker that moves with precision but not extremely fluid. Takes false steps on initial read and react and wastes movement in his deliberate reactions. Not a great take on guy. Does not use his hands well to take on blocks and lacks explosiveness. Lacks the bulk to hold up versus an offensive lineman getting to the second level or a lead blocker. Active in pursuit and covers a lot of ground. OK change of direction but lacks good balance and is not sudden in transition. Shows some cover skills and zone awareness. Good break and drive on the throw. Good range in coverage. Takes good angles in pursuit. Active and productive. Makes plays. Slashes downhill and blows up play at times. Keeps leverage on the ball. Fringe instincts. If he sees it, it registers then reacts. May be a weakside run and hit linebacker only. Will contribute on special teams. Better in zone coverage than man to man. Has courage and some tools to play on Sunday. Had a 10-2 broad jump, 39-inch vertical jump, 1.57/10, and a 6.90/3 cone. Our top rated athletic inside linebacker at the Combine. Finished his career with 288 tackles, 16 for loss, 4 1/2 sacks, and 6 passes broken up. OSR:1/15. Third/fourth round. (A-33 1/2, H-9 7/8, BP-26, SS-4.32).

Draft Rewind 2008 - Trevor Laws - Philadelphia Eagles

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about TREVOR LAWS: Notre Dame, 6006 304 5.10. Three-year starter. Will need to play inside because of his lack of height. Plays like his hair is on fire. Good initial quickness. Long arms and stout at the point. Plays with leverage. Best position is a 4-3 tackle that is on the move. Impressive and productive during Senior Bowl week. Explosive quickness. Tough to block a moving target. Good use of hands. Plays with leverage. A disruptive player that makes plays. Fast twitch. Doesn’t stay blocked. Takes good angles. Can run plays down from behind. Talk about productive - as a defensive lineman, he made 112 tackles, 8 for loss, and 4 sacks. There are linebackers in this draft that lack that type of productivity. Instinctive to feel blocking schemes. Competitive and works to finish the play. Impressive upper body strength. OSR:22/46 of all defensive linemen. Edge speed:left 1.88, right 2.19. Third/fourth round. (A- 33 3/8, H-9 3/4, BP-35, 10-1.75).

Can be described as a human highlight film. Complete player. Moved around to disguise him in offense. Plays both sides, inside and outside receiver. Natural catcher. Will extend to catch the ball away from his frame. Doesn’t appear to have any blind spots. Catches the ball over his head and over either shoulder with ease. Makes the circus type catch. Shows a burst off the line to get upfield and separate. Quick out of break. Has the ability to get to a poorly thrown ball. Will need work on deep inside breaking patterns. Snatches the ball on slants and gets upfield. Fluid when running routes off motion. Comes back to the ball. Good adjustments to the ball. Bends his knees and has good hip flexibility. Will jump and make a play over a defender. Natural running after catch. Has open field instincts and elusiveness. Gets to full speed in two strides. Makes the clutch catch in crunch time. Consistent performer that has been productive against good teams. Led the NCAA Division I in all-purpose yardage in 2007 and 2008. Has scored 22 touchdowns receiving, 6 touchdowns rushing, and 5 touchdowns in returns (3 punt and 2 kickoff). Has an injury history that includes a 2006 knee surgery. A natural athlete. OSR:16/38. First round. (A-32 1/4, H-9 1/4, VJ-35.5, SS-4.25)

Draft Rewind 2009 - LeSean McCoy - Philadelphia Eagles

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about LESEAN MCCOY:  Pittsburgh, 5103 198 4.50. Junior entry. Two-year starter. Started career at Fork Union Prep. Goes by the nickname ‘Shady’. Plays in a pro style attack featuring one back sets, ‘I’ formation, split backs and power ‘I’. Good vision and cutting ability. Slide and glide running style. Can make the defender miss with some shake and bake moves. Picks his way through the line at times. Rotates by series with LaRod Stephens-Howling and is usually fresh. Lacks long finish speed. Gets what’s blocked. Not creative in his running style. Lacks ideal size for strength and durability purposes. Reverses field and does some things running the ball that he won’t get away with on Sundays. Can break tackles. Good vision where he can hop cut in the hole and change directions. Ball security is questionable. He loses fumbles and has been lucky enough to fumble out of bounds where he doesn’t give up the ball. Cut back type runner. Catches the ball in his soft hands. Not a willing blocker. Several red flags need to be addressed. Big East offensive player of the year. Did not workout at the Combine because of the flu. Third round. Stanley Havili, Philadelphia Eagles, 240th Pick, 7th Round, 2011 NFL Draft

Havili, Stanley Southern Cal 6002 227 4.70
Four-year starter who is versatile and productive. The true fullback position on most NFL teams is going by the wayside with leather helmets and button under crotch jerseys. Ball clubs are using tight ends, defensive linemen, or linebackers as lead blockers. Every year there is at least one true short-necked fullback that grew into playing the position. This year it is Havili. He is the total package of good blocking skills, hands to catch all the pass routes, and productivity as a runner. The former running back brings good running skills to the table along with the above mentioned attributes. He has good vision, feet, strength, and power between the tackles and in short yardage situations. Finishes his runs with effort and authority. A good athlete who flashes a burst around the corner. Not easy to tackle in the open field on screen passes. Can kick out or seal the edge force defender. A willing lead blocker who is explosive. Physical in his overall play. Has an injury history. Has been nicked up all four years at USC. For complete report see Ourlads Guide to the NFL Draft.

Wednesday, August 3, 2011

Greg Lloyd, Philadelphia Eagles, 237th Pick, 7th Round, 2011 NFL Draft

Three-year starter. Always around the ball. Good laterally. Coming back off a year where he was working through a knee injury in 2009. Was injured 11/28/09. Good week of practice during the East/West Shrine Bowl week. The 2010 season was basically getting his feet back under him. Played a defensive end position and projects to a 3-4 outside edge rusher. His father, Greg Lloyd Sr., was a playmaker for the Steelers. A developmental player with pro skills. For complete report see Ourlads Guide to the NFL Draft.

Monday, July 25, 2011

Rolle, Brian Ohio State 5095 229 4.56

Good range. Can stick his foot in the ground and drive on the ball. Explosive quickness. Physical tackler. Initiates contact. Strong for his size. Looks like a weakside Will 4-3 linebacker candidate. Can get smothered by big offensive linemen and separating at times. A three down linebacker who is athletic and instinctive. Will contribute on all special teams coverage units. For complete report see Ourlads Guide to the NFL Draft.

Jason Kelce, Philadelphia Eagles, 191st Pick, 6th Round, 2011 NFL Draft

Kelce, Jason Cincinnati 6025 280 4.93

A zone blocking center. Good footwork. A knee bender who plays with leverage. Plays with good base and balance. Works to finish his block. Good body control. Quick to redirect. Quick hands to get inside the frame of a defensive lineman. Light feet with the ability to recover, react quickly, and pick up blitz. Good ability to stay balanced, change direction, and adjust ability to control body. Good downfield effort to make a second block. Has lateral agility quickness to cut off slant moves and mirror pass rusher. Runs his feet on contact. A creative team that runs the ball may use him at fullback. A scrappy and feisty center who may buck the trend, but there are no interior linemen that have made a team weighing 280 pounds in the modern era. For complete report see Ourlads Guide to the NFL Draft.

Monday, July 18, 2011

Julian Vandervelde, Philadelphia Eagles, 161st Pick, 5th Round, 2011 NFL Draft

Vandervelde, Julian Iowa 6017 301 5.21
Three-year starter with experience at right and left guard. A better than average athlete who plays with good zone technique and smarts. Crafty in his play. Plays with good positional balance and body control. Gets his pads down and can block with leverage and knee bend. Drives his legs on contact. Smooth on combination blocks. Takes good angles to the second level to cut off backside pursuit. Intense in his play. Works to finish his blocks. Good use of hands and downfield effort. Dion Lewis, Philadelphia Eagles, 149th Pick, 5th Round, 2011 NFL Draft

Lewis, Dion Pittsburgh 5065 193 4.57

More productive as a freshman surrounded by a veteran quarterback and offensive line in 2009. Can make you miss in the hole. Has a jump cut spin move that helps him slip tacklers. Can make a cut without losing speed. Quick stop and start moves. Slithers through a crease in the defense. Catches check down and screen passes in his hands. A willing blocker who will stick his nose in there. Effective cut blocker. Generally lets the play develop then cuts off the block. Quicker than fast, but lacks a sudden upfield burst. Has above average athletic ability and running instincts. He may find a job as a role player. Lacks feature back power and finish speed. Ball security is a problem with short arms and small hands. Gets ball stripped. For complete report see Ourlads Guide to the NFL Draft.
