Draft Rewind 2010 - Chris Cook - Minnesota Vikings

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about CHRIS COOK: Virginia, 6016 212 4.45. Three-year starter. Rangy corner with good size. Can turn and run deep. Wrap tackler in run support. Needs to consciously work to bend his knees. Has a tendency to raise up and play too high then struggles to change direction. Athletic and smooth in his play. A good athlete with loose hips. Possesses good short area quickness for a cover-two corner. Good long speed to run and track vertical deep receivers. Some ball clubs may project him to free safety because of his size and range. Has an injury history and was suspended twice for academics. Not a dumb guy, just didn’t take care of business. Over his career he had 143 tackles, 19 passes broken up, and 7 interceptions. BTR:left 4.30, right 4.48. OSR:3/ 29. Second/third round. (A-32 1/2, H-9 3/8, VJ-38, SS-4.23).

Draft Rewind 2011 - Christian Ponder - Minnesota Vikings

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about CHRISTIAN PONDER: Florida State, 6021 222 4.65. A three-year starter. Graduated in 2 ½ years and has been working on his MBA for the past year and a half. Learning complex NFL offenses will not be a problem. Has Kurt Warner type accuracy. Consistent ability to keep receivers on their routes with few adjustments. Throws a catchable ball with timing, touch, and rare ball placement to his receivers. Completed 68.8 percent of his passes in 2009. Patient passing the ball. Lets the play develop while reading coverages, then delivers ball. Equally skilled at throwing horizontal or vertical passes with accuracy. Quick release. Always ready to throw, keeps the ball up at shoulder level or above. No wasted motion. Tight spiral with velocity. Quick feet. Gets to throwing point quickly in conventional or shotgun alignments. Good mechanics. Can scramble out, gather himself, and throw accurately. Quick and fluid. A poised leader who doesn’t get rattled. Features the arm strength to fit the ball into tight spots in the “red zone.” Quick twitch from vision to launch point. He sees it, he hits it. Makes plays left or right on the move. Accurate on bootlegs and waggles. Played in nine games in 2010 before he had surgery on his right shoulder after being injured in the Clemson game. 2010 stats: 2044 passing yds, 61.5%, 20 TDs, 8 INTs. Ball velocity 51 mph. OSR:4/18. Draft Rewind 2003 - Kevin Williams - Minnesota Vikings

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about KEVIN WILLIAMS: Oklahoma State, 6046 304 4.82. A tall defensive tackle with fairly long arms. Improving player. Came on strong as a senior. Was a standout at the Senior Bowl after a stellar Houston Bowl performance. Athletic. Very quick off the ball — dynamic penetrator who makes plays in the backfield. Agile. Has good balance. Needs to upgrade his strength but he’s a solid overall run defender. Gets too upright at times, but he has good technique — uses his hands well to maintain separation and play off blocks. Inconsistent in pursuit — shows a short burst but isn’t an all-out chaser on plays across the field. Has good feet — can get through the trash smoothly when moving laterally. Very good inside pass rusher with a fine combination of quickness, power, and moves. Strong with a hand slap. Spins quickly. Flexible. Has the body control to change directions or turn the corner. Strong in his closing burst. Could project as a “power” type end. Quality prospect who needs more strength and overall consistency.

Good lateral quickness and speed to make plays on the perimeter. Downhill player that can work upfield and blow up a play. Better than average instincts and nose for the ball. Fills the inside running lanes with strength. Wrap up tackler. Can run with a tight end in man coverage. Not smooth in transition. Better in zone coverage. Quick take off on blitz. Good timing. Disruptive. Throws his body at the ball carrier. Strong inside thumper. Perfect fit for an inside linebacker in a 3-4 scheme where he has experience. Physical and explosive player. Quick to read and react. Active. Strong and rugged build. Impact hitter. Does not shy away from contact. Strong in his arms and shoulders to control a center or a guard. Strong, flexible, and tough. Always around the ball. Long arms to ward off blocks. Hard nosed and competitive. Sudden to scrape and fill inside running lanes. Good reactions to cut back. Good change of direction. Not an elite athlete but a productive player. Had 133 tackles and 11 tackles for loss last fall. A natural talent that is a three down player. A good wrap tackler. A disruptive downhill player that makes things happen. Has the frame to add more muscle weight. Average speed for an NFL linebacker, not a burner. Has experience in both the 3-4 and 4-3 schemes. Draft Rewind 2009 - Phil Loadholt - Minnesota Vikings

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about PHIL LOADHOLT: Oklahoma, 6080 343 5.49. Two-year starter. Junior college transfer. Long arms and big hands. Massive man. Lines up in a two point preset stance. Played left tackle at Oklahoma. Projects to a right tackle because of the lack of foot quickness. Inconsistent to move and slide his feet. Must work to bend his knees. Plays high. His punch goes to the facemask of defender at times. Below average flexibility for the position. If he gets his hands on target, he locks you up and mauls you. Appears to lack a sense of urgency at times. Lacks the quickness on backside cut blocks. Waist bends in pass protection. Two move defensive ends cause him major problems. Strong on down blocks. His feet are not close to the top tackles in this draft. Once he locks on a defensive end he can run them up the field. Position/wall off run blocker. Struggles to redirect. Gets some push in the running game. Long legs. Must consciously work to bend his knees. Off field red flags need to be addressed. OSR:20/47. Third/fourth round. (A-36 1/2, H-10, BP-24, 10-1.84).

Good quickness, agility, and balance for position. Classic downhill runner. Gets yards after initial contact. Hits zone stretch play hard and fast. Can make the long breakaway runs. Sudden initial quickness out of backfield. Lines up 8 yards deep. Runs like he’s his own blocker. Gets stronger the more he carries the ball. Peripheral vision and cutback ability. Punishes tacklers. Can’t be arm tackled. Has the ability to make big plays every time he touches the ball. Catches the ball in his hands on screens and flat routes. Doesn’t go down easily. Lateral moves and quickness as needed. Well built, muscular and solid. Injury history. Somewhat of a leggy runner. Runs high. Can improve his blocking skills on pass protection and blitz pickup. First Oklahoma running back to rush for over 3000 yards in his first two years. Over 4000 yards for his three year career. Point of contact he gets his pad level. Workhorse type back. Draft Rewind 2006 - Chad Greenway - Minnesota Vikings

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about CHAD GREENWAY: Iowa, 6024 242 4.76. Three-year starter. Good combination of power, speed, and athletic ability. Best coverage linebacker at Senior Bowl. Can cover backs, tight ends, and wide receivers in the slot. Good change of direction. Always around the ball. Every-down player. Good coverage on special teams. An athletic and rangy linebacker with sideline-tosideline speed. A physical player that runs through his tackles. A collision player with good lateral quickness. Can either run through the line or run the hump. Makes the play. Versatile enough to match up on the slot receiver as he did against Florida’s Chad Jackson and run with them man-to-man. Iowa is generally a zone team and Greenway is a solid zone player that breaks up quickly on plays in front of him. Instinctive. A disruptive player that is explosive and makes plays. Plays with reckless abandon. Has a tendency to play high, but can get under a blocker. Good knee bend. He does a good job of finding receiver inside with his hands. Keeps blockers off his legs and finishes play. Combine workout was average. Worked out well at Iowa’s pro day. First round pick. (A-31 1/4, H-9 1/8, BP-16, SS-4.22).

Built like a running back. Outstanding running skills and vision after catch. A hand catcher with soft hands to snatch the ball. Natural receiving skills. OSR:12/38. First/second round. (A-31 5/8, H-9 3/8, VJ-37.5, SS-DNP).

Joe Webb, Minnesota Viking Wild Card, Draft Rewind 2010

What we said in 2010:

Webb, Joe AL-Birmingham 6023 223 4.45 Two-year starter at quarterback his junior and senior years. Outstanding athletic ability. Will be drafted as a height, weight, and speed developmental wide receiver. Big target and explosive athlete who caught the ball well in Senior Bowl practices. He did play receiver at UAB as a sophomore, so the position isn’t totally foreign to him (30 catches, 459 yards, 3 touchdowns.) May get drafted higher like Matt Jones, former Arkansas quarterback that was a first round pick. Was the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year and threw for over 2000 yards and rushed for over 1000 yards two years in a row. Webb had 3726 yards as a senior, 21 touchdown passes, and 11 touchdown runs. He also had one touchdown reception. Graduated in December with a degree in criminal justice. Has an 11-5 broad jump and 21 on the bench press. Was not invited to the Combine. Third/fourth round. (A-33 3/4, H-10 3/4, VJ- 42.5, SS-4.04).

Ross Homan, Minnesota Vikings, 200th Pick, 6th Round, 2011 NFL Draft

Homan, Ross Ohio State 6003 240 4.68
Two-and-a-half year starter. Somewhat mechanical in movements but overall is athletic and has a burst in pursuit. Decent change of direction and range, hustles in pursuit. Struggles to get off a block and spent way too much time on the ground. Tends to get caught up in the traffic instead of getting downhill and to the ball. Lacks power to take on a block and will get covered up. Active and aggressive. He needs to be in a scheme that will keep him from getting blocked. He is at his best in pursuit on the edge. Has the characteristics of a Will linebacker in a 4-3. Shorter arms than ideal for the position. Good football intelligence. Understands the zone concepts and has good awareness. Can run with backs on swing and check down routes. For complete report see Ourlads Guide to the NFL Draft.

Brandon Fusco, Minnesota Vikings, 172nd Pick, 6th Round, 2011 NFL Draft

Fusco, Brandon Slippery Rock 6041 302 5.21
Four-year starter who is a good effort player with the tools to develop. Will need to improve more functional strength to handle inside power players. Dominates players at his level of competition. Two-time team captain who is athletic and intense in his play. Mentally tough. Started his career as a linebacker. Spent the week at the Senior Bowl getting accustomed to the speed and power of the game. Good first step quickness, plays on his feet, and works to finish. Flashes explosiveness when he bends his knees. Must learn to redirect and shift his weight quickly to beat an opponent. His hands are out of sync with his feet. Keeps a good base and stays square. Too high to anchor against power. Must keep his pads down. Fusco has the raw material to play on Sundays. His breakdowns come from lack of technique. In a nutshell, he lacks position skill level but is a developing size, intelligent, and athletic prospect. For complete report see Ourlads Guide to the NFL Draft.
