What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about RICHIE INCOGNITO: Nebraska, 6032 305 4.91. Junior eligible. Two-year starter as a red-shirted freshman and sophomore. Was suspended by Nebraska in ’03 for violation of team rules by Frank Solich. Was reinstated but then dismissed from the team by Bill Callahan in fall of ’04. Then transferred to Oregon where he was dismissed in less than a week for violation of team rules. Started at Nebraska for two years as a left tackle. Was making the move to center for the fall of 2004 when he was suspended. Explosive knee bender who rolls his hips and has strong lower body. Has ability to regain body control and balance. Can redirect and shift weight quickly to defeat defender. Quick pivot and turn. Physical use of hands, punch, and placement. Explosive six-inch punch. Mauls and dominates opponent at times. Works to sustain and finish blocks. Has the ability in pass protection to quick set, change direction, and redirect. Shows attitude and aggression to engage initial contact with base, balance, and knee bend. Stays square with ability to shadow rusher. Quick reactions to recover to blitz pickup. Easy light feet. Quick to cut off defender. Has lateral agility and quickness to cut off slant move. Can anchor against power. Quick on pull and kick out. Good effort to block downfield. Long snapper on punts with average of .68 to .78 on snaps. Violent player who loses control and has a breakdown in technique at times. One of the top linemen at any position in this draft. Must clean up off-field issues, but has the talent and demeanor to succeed. Originally drafted by St. Louis.

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about MIKE POUNCEY: Florida, 6053 303 5.18. Three-year starter. Twin brother of Steelers’ first round draft choice Maurkice Pouncey. Our top guard or center, but is versatile enough to back up every position on the offensive line. Some ball clubs prefer him at guard and others at center. He struggled on short snaps in the shotgun where every snap was an adventure early in 2010. Can turn the down defender with strong leg action and sure hands. Good effort and body control. Effective downfield on the Utah pass. Good in space to adjust and sustain his block. Powerful blocker who can roll his hips to shock and control the down defender. Too tall to bend and play with leverage at center. Feisty and competitive. Plays with an ornery streak. Relishes contact. A mauler on down blocks. Good hip and knee flexibility at guard where he can change direction and move in on a moving target and finish his block. Good effort to seal on the second level and block downfield. Good lateral agility and quickness versus a slant move. Explosive punch and use of hands. Gains control and locks out. Has the ability to create separation. Plays on his feet. In pass protection he plays in a pre-set stance with a good base and balance. Can slide, mirror, and adjust his feet. As a freshman he moved from the offensive line to the defensive line because of injuries and played in every game. Did not bench by his choice. OSR:35/49. First/second round. (A-32 1/4, H-9 3/4, BP-DNP, 10-1.80).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about PAUL
SOLIAI: Utah, 6040 344 5.13.
Two-year starter. Huge wide-bodied grass grabber with long arms. Endurance is a
problem. Wears down in games and plays high. Two down player. A premium is put
on a man with his size that can move. Ideal nose tackle to push the pocket. Gets
inside push. Doesn’t always play low but is hard to move. Graded out as one of
the top defensive tackles athletically at the Combine. Had a vertical jump of
29.5. Can be explosive off the ball. Tackle to tackle player. One speed guy.
Needs to use his hands better. Lacks the consistent ability to control opponent
with effective hand use. Marginal quickness and extension. Could go anywhere on
the second day with his weight concerns. Did not lift weights as of press time
due to a right elbow injury. Fourth/fifth round. (A-34, H-9 3/4, BP-DNP,
10-1.73).

Draft Rewind 2004 - Karlos Dansby - Miami Dolphins
By
proscoutdan

7:00 AM
What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about KARLOS
DANSBY: Auburn, 6032 250 4.59. A
very athletic weakside linebacker prospect with a lean build and long arms.
Three year starter. Impact player throughout his career. Had a solid senior
season. More fluid than physical. Can be neutralized at the point-of-attack — a
little slow to shed at times — lacks good strength. Works well on plays away.
Can chase down backs from the backside with speed. Gives good pursuit effort.
Agile and light on his feet. Can avoid low contact well. Active — instinctive —
makes plays. Is an aggressive, usually secure tackler, but is more of a grabber
than an explosive drive-through striker. Good blitzer off the edge — uses his
hands and long arms well to play through the running back block — redirects well
and closes with a burst. Very effective in coverage. Quick in his backpedal. Can
turn and run smoothly. Breaks on the ball alertly — has good leaping ability and
natural interception skills. Quality prospect who needs to upgrade his strength
to reach his full potential. (Originally drafted by Arizona)

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about ANTHONY FASANO: Notre Dame, 6041 259 4.74. Junior eligible. Started 24 games over three years. Physical player in passing game. A natural hand catcher. Catches the ball out away from his body. Will layout and adjust to a poorly thrown ball. Fights for extra yards after catch. Caught 47 passes for 576 yards, 12.3 ypc, and 2 TDs in 2005. When blocking a defensive lineman he needs to improve hip snap and flexibility. Average upper body strength to block big men. Not explosive, but shows good feet. Works to get his body in position to wall off linebackers on the second level. Could improve his sustain. Doesn’t always get his man turned. Can adjust on the move. More of a straight away power runner after the catch. Can break tackles at times. Has decent speed. Already graduated. Smart. Will pick up blocking schemes. Second/third round talent. (A-32 5/8, H-9 1/2, BP-19, VJ-33.5). (Fasano was originally drafted by Dallas.)

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about CHRIS CLEMONS: Clemson, 6001 208 4.35. Three-year starter. Rangy build with good athletic ability and above average safety speed. Productive. Flashes a third gear burst to close on the receiver or ball carrier. Has take-up acceleration and downfield range. Wrap up tackler. Active as a force player. Keeps contain. Has a knack to be where the ball is at, anticipating the play. Good movement and decision making ability. Can cover a third wide receiver. Has some corner tools and skills that secondary coaches covet. Made 323 tackles in his career. BTR:left 4.40, right 4.49. OSR:8/24. Fourth/fifth round. (A-32 3/4, H-9 5/8, VJ-37.5, SS-4.39).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about JOHN JERRY: Mississippi, 6054 332 5.20. Four-year starter with long arms. An above average athlete that can redirect in pass protection. Huge butt and big legs. A three position player at either guard or right tackle. Plays with a strong base. Naturally strong but not explosive in his play. Brother Peria Jerry was a first round draft choice in 2009 as a defensive tackle for the Falcons. Bends at the waist in pass protection but maintains contact. Stays balanced when sliding with man. Has the physical tools to pass block, but techniques are lacking. A push and steer run blocker that uses his hands effectively. Keeps position on his target. Pulls and runs aggressively, but is inconsistent to keep his feet, contact, and follow through. Waist bender on contact. Possesses some interesting physical tools, but needs technique work in his pass sets and run blocking. May need extra repetitions. OSR:14/40. Third/fourth round. (A-34, H-9 3/4, BP-31, 10-1.85).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about SEAN SMITH: Utah, 6034 214 4.52. Two-year starter. Long arms with good athletic ability. Projects to a press corner that is still raw and developing. Lacks quick movement out of transition to break on the ball. Not loose hipped, smooth or fluid. Wasted motion and false steps in his turns. Plays a press-bail and shuffle technique. The little exposure to his backpedal we had was high and he didn’t bend his knees or drop his butt. Has only played corner for two years. Was a wide receiver with inconsistent hands. Question play instincts and awareness. Lacks a burst to close on the ball in the air. Better when everything is in front of him. Made 69 tackles, 16 passes broken up, and 9 interceptions in 2 years. May also be projected as a safety for some teams. Good upside based on measurables and athletic ability. Developing size/speed prospect. BTR:left 4.83, right 5.00. OSR:13/32. Third/fourth round. (A-34 5/8, H-9 7/8, VJ-34, SS-4.16).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about JARED ODRICK: Penn State, 6051 304 5.08. Three-year starter that is versatile enough to be a 4-3 tackle or a 3-4 end. A disruptive player that gets upfield pressure. Instinctive to diagnose play after controlling opponent. Quick to find the ball. Feels pressure and reacts on the move. Reacts to angles and combination blocks. Sudden first step quickness. Plays the run with stout inline strength. Quick to stack and shed. Uses the arm over move rushing the passer. Fights through blocks and is strong at the point of attack. Hustles to get in on play. Will finish pursuit. Gets his hands up as a pass rusher. Can push the pocket if he bends his knees and plays with leverage. Effective on twist stunts. Naturally strong. Usually double teamed. Thick lower body. Can two gap. Strong hands to keep from letting the blockers seal his linebackers. Tough and physical in his play. Big-10 Defensive Player of the Year. Productive the past two years, making 84 tackles, 20 1/2 tackles for loss, and 11 1/2 sacks. Edge speed:left 2.08, right 2.24. OSR:7/20. First round. (A-34 1/4, H-9 3/4, BP-26, 10-1.75).

Draft Rewind 2008 - Jake Long - Miami Dolphins
By
proscoutdan
Posted at
1:28 AM
What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about JAKE LONG: Michigan, 6070 313 5.25. A four-year starter that is a physical player who shows quickness, power, and a mauler mentality. Plays with a good base in the run and passing games. Can maintain his power angles in the lower body with little crossover. Drops his hips in pass protection and demonstrates the ability to anchor against power rushers. Has good reach to his kick on pass protection. Better in closed quarters than in the open field. Limited pulling ability. Will struggle with edge speed at times. Michigan mostly slides and gap protects, so you don’t see him singled up a lot. He always has inside help on the slide and outside on gap protection. Could be a feature right tackle like Jon Jansen but will struggle on the left side. Needs to improve his pass protection punch. Will waist bend and overextend at times. Good quickness for his size on backside scoop blocks. Michigan asks their tackles to move lateral and expand defenders. He does a good job with this technique. Long arms. Shows patience in pass protection. Good short area quickness and hand strength. Footwork improved in 2007. Good body control. Plays with good balance. Not as athletic as Joe Thomas, but is very consistent. Hard worker that should be a top tackle for a long time. Excellent Combine workout. OSR:1/42. Early first round. (A-35 3/4, H-11, BP-37, 10-1.76).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about VONTAE DAVIS: Illinois, 5111 203 4.44. Junior entry. Three-year starter. Outstanding athletic ability. One of the best things he does is get up the field to force point quickly. Will play off blockers and tackle. Reacts quickly to run reads. Has the size and the strength to string out the play. More of a hitter and cut tackler than a wrap up guy. Outstanding closing quickness in run support. Gets position on receiver and keeps it in man coverage. Has the footwork and quickness to do this well. Hard to shake. Has acceleration long and short. Not naturally instinctive to run/pass. Needs extra reps in zone coverage. Question ball reactions. Inconsistent in his play and his timing is off. Is in position but doesn’t always make a play on the ball. Lacks discipline and awareness. Has some hip tightness in his turns. Emotional and high strung. Question if he has a love for playing the game and will work to improve his weaknesses. High maintenance player that will only be limited in his ability to star on Sunday by his attitude and lack of coachability. Has NFL DNA as brother Vernon is a tight end with the 49ers’. Has more red flags than the Chinese National Army. BTR:left 4.66, right 4.54. OSR:1/ 32. First round. (A-30, H-9 1/4, VJ-36, SS-4.06).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about CHAD HENNE: Michigan, 6027 230 4.97. Four-year starter from Wyomissing, PA. Played in a pro style offense. Missed three games with a separated right shoulder in 2007. He is a right handed passer. Demonstrated physical and mental toughness over his career. Makes good decisions. Demonstrates good velocity and arm strength. Deliberate and quick to set up point. A take charge guy that is a good leader. Accuracy is dependable short and medium. Puts air under the deep ball. A smart and competitive athlete. More of a 3/4 arm type passer. Stays locked on to his primary receiver at times instead of looking off the coverage. Can throw a fast ball into the seam between defenders. Better in the pocket but can roll out and throw accurately. Active like Peyton Manning calling audibles and pointing out protections. Strong and durable. Somewhat mechanical in his passing. Will step into his throws. Student of the game. Will try to stick the ball into tight spaces. Better in the pocket than on the run. Can sidestep a rush but is not a running threat. It appears that he reads half of the field with the play side receivers running various route combinations. He always has an outlet receiver he can drop the ball off to if needed. As in the Florida game, if he gets the ball out on time, he can throw a laser into tight spots. Ball velocity 53 mph which is good. OSR:14/17. Second/third round. (A-31 5/8, H-9, SS-4.43, VJ-25.5).

Wilson is the third Montana Grizzly to join the Dolphins along with Dan Carpenter and Lex Hilliard. Wilson is a development corner with an ascending skill set. His measurables on his 3/14/11 pro day were 1.65/10, 18/BP, 35/VJ, 9-11/BJ, 4.28/SS, 6.93/3 cone. The Dolphins liked what they saw at the Montana pro day workouts.

Four-year starter with outstanding hands and the ability to contribute at fullback, H-back, and tight end. Productive with 189 catches for 2544 yards and 28 touchdowns over his career. Has the ability to adjust to the flight of the ball and hold the ball on contact. Athletic after catch. Will fight for extra yards. A screen off type blocker. He’s not a short-necked, slobber knocker as an I-formation lead blocker. Needs more aggression and violence in his play as a blocker. Sees himself as a receiver. No holdup on release. Can run the wheel route, check downs, flat routes, anything short or in the middle. Not stiff. Fluid route runner who can improve. Quick enough to create space and locate open area. Will catch the ball in a crowd and take a hit. Good foot quickness and change of direction. For complete report see Ourlads Guide to the NFL Draft.

Gates, Edmond Abilene Christian 5116 192 4.37
Started 32 games over four years. Rare vertical speed. Ran numerous “9” routes which is a deep route and the corners at his level couldn’t keep up. He blew the top off the coverage and got behind the secondary on a regular basis. Can make the over shoulder catch - right or left. No blind spots. Appears to have better than average hands. Can make the low ball or off target catches. Will compete for the ball. Will pluck and snatch the ball. Built like a sprinter. A good athlete who is slippery downfield after catch. Will not run you over, but has some elusiveness. A screen off type blocker who needs to get stronger and finish better. Needs pro route running development. Will shorten his arms at times going across the middle. For complete report see Ourlads Guide to the NFL Draft.

Thomas, Daniel Kansas State 6002 230 4.68
Two-year starter. Junior college transfer. Big-12 Newcomer of
the Year in 2009 when he led the league in rushing with 1265
yards. A physical runner who runs with his eyes. Excellent vision. A slasher who can make the defender miss in the open field. A versatile athlete who played quarterback in high school and junior college. Bounces the ball outside quickly and instinctively if there is no hole. He will also make the tough one and two yard runs with his strong leg drive. An intelligent runner who can break tackles after initial contact. Has a burst through the hole. A natural downhill north/south runner. Keeps his shoulders square. Not easy to tackle. An offensive weapon with good running skills and patience. Plays out at wide receiver, in the slot, I formation tailback, and takes the direct snap in the Wildcat from the center. Has receiver type soft hands. Can adjust to a poor pass and pluck the ball. A hand catcher. He needs technique work on his route running and blocking, but displays effort. He can take punishment as a runner and play with pain. Good contact balance and athletic speed. More of an upright runner. Was recruited to Florida as a quarterback out of high school but spent two years at NW Mississippi Junior College after not qualifying. Spent 2008 at Butler (KS) Junior College and Manhattan (KS) Christian working on academics. Enrolled at Kansas State in July 2009. Followed up his junior year with a strong senior season. Excellent agility for a big back. An ascending player who has had only two years experience at running back. Runs with power and determination. Does not go down easily. Nose for the goal-line. 2011 Free Agent Rankings Defensive Tackles....
By

4:02 AM

The most important factor used to compile the free agent rankings is the
player’s ability and performance on the field. Next is the age and time factor,
especially players over the age of thirty. We then look at durability and injury
issues with the older veterans. Lastly, we evaluate the intangible areas (i.e.:
attitude, work ethic, and off-field troubles) as those red flags often follow a
player to his new team. Restricted free agents rarely move. The players are
ranked in order of their value. Keep in mind that maintenance of this list is
ongoing. Minor errors or omissions are possible. For example, when a player
signs during the season, his new contract’s expiration date is sometimes unclear.
It is likely that a few players are even now negotiating new or extended contracts
with their team. The following signings are as of March 14, 2011.
Codes:
F – Tagged by current team as a Franchise Player
T – Tendered by current team
S – Signed by current team

ERF – Exclusive Restricted Free Agent
CC – Cap Casualty/New Team
