What Ourlads Guide to the NFL Draft said about Grimm:
Grimm, Cody Virginia Tech 5107 203 4.61
One-year starter, but started for four years on special teams. A
playmaker that will start out as a core special teams player.
Physical with rare instincts. A pure football player with NFL
DNA - the son of former Redskins’ great, Russ Grimm. Always
around the ball. Not particularly big or fast, but a heat seeking
missile looking for his next collision. Natural ability to find the
ball. Has burst, quickness, and acceleration. Just when he looks
like he’s going to get beat in coverage, he slaps the ball away.
Nose for the ball in run support. Active and aggressive. Has a
fierce sense of competition. Mentally and physically tough. A
sure and consistent wrap up tackler. Not always pretty, but
efficient. Was graded 13th out of 61 linebackers that worked
out at the Combine. A special teams Pro Bowler waiting to
happen. Had 215 career tackles, 32 tackles for loss, 12 sacks, 7
passes broken up, and 9 forced fumbles. Had a 35.5 inch vertical
jump and a 9-9 broad jump. OSR:4/19. Seventh round/priority
free agent. (A-30 1/2, H-9 5/8, BP-11, SS-4.02).
