Nick Fairley,Stephen Paea and Other Defensive Tackle Notes 2011 NFL Draft
Nick Fairley is a disruptive penetrator who makes plays. Rotates where he
is always fresh. Good quickness for a big man. Hustles on downfield pursuit.
Pushes the pocket with strength. Cameron Heyward can play any position
in the front line 4-3 or 3-4 packages. Can dominate and shut down the run
game. Disappears at times. Inconsistent. Stephen Paea is an under-tackle
prospect in a four man front. Sudden first step quickness. A penetrator who is
best on the move. Drake Nevis plays in a rotation, a battler who gives good
effort. Plays low and with leverage. Quick hit and spin moves. Christian
Ballard has the talent to play inside if he plays low. A 4-3 or 3-4 end
candidate. A flash player who needs consistency. Jurrell Casey plays the 3
technique under-tackle where he shades the guard’s outside shoulder. Built
similar to Sedrick Ellis and Mike Patterson. A good effort power player. Phil
Taylor lost some weight, changed his jersey number, and may make some
money in the 2011 draft. A size player that can move. Good feet. Jerrell
Powe is a tackle to tackle run stuffer. Can be turned out and moved if he
doesn’t play low. Endurance could be a problem.
