Rodger Saffold (Indiana) – 6044, 312, good arm length 33 ¼”. The best lineman on either team. Plays with a good base as a run blocker and pass protector. Shuffles his feet and mirrors rusher. Quick to redirect. Locked up two of the best pass rushers in Greg Hardy and Rahim Alem in the one on one pass rush drills. Hardy leveraged him back when he turned his speed to power. Strong play elevated his draft status to the third or fourth round area. Can play any position along the offensive front but center. Cord Howard (Georgia Tech) – 6041, 317, long arms 34 ¼”, hands 10”. Made a favorable impression at times in practice and during the game. Flashed a solid punch to stun pass rushers. Then worked to finish blocks. Good effort downfield on pulls. Did have some technique breakdowns but has tools to play on Sunday. Mike Tepper (California) – 6052, 325, hands 10 ¼”. Struggled at left tackle trying to block Rahim Alem and Greg Hardy. Must make a team as a guard. In short, he is a wide-bodied mauler that has questionable balance and foot quickness as a pass protector. Brandon Carter (Texas Tech) – 6054, 326, arms 33 ¼”, hands 10 5/8”. A mauler with below average foot quickness that flashed pass protection skills in one on one drills. Reggie Stephens (Iowa State) – 6025, 322. Wide bodied guard that overextended in the run game and waist bended in pass protection. Fringe athletic ability. Chris Marinelli (Stanford) – 6063, 300, hands 10”. An average athlete that is a good technique player. Good football intelligence that needs overall body strength. Thomas Austin (Clemson) – 6030, 315. Quick initial movement in pass protection and run blocking. Physical and scrappy in his play. Blocks and walls off his man if covered. Keeps head on a swivel if uncovered. Good use of hands to control defender. Hands up in pass pro. Can cut block in open field on screen. Sergio Render (Virginia Tech) – 6027, 318, arms 33 1/8”, hands 10 1/8”. A mauler in the running game and had numerous breakdowns in technique as a pass protector. A leaner, not a popper. Fringe athletic ability. Shelley Smith (Colorado State) – 6024, 301, shorter arms than ideal 31 7/8”. Good effort and hustle to finish play. Keeps feet in space on screen. Mobile. Can recover. Good lateral agility. Drive blocks with a flat back. Kyle Calloway (Iowa) – 6062, 322, arms 33 ¼”. A versatile guard/tackle combination player. Pulls around and occupies linebacker. Struggles at times with a defender’s spin move. Mirrors defensive end in pass protection. Will take bad angles to second level at times. John Estes (Hawaii) – 6016, 295, shorter arms than ideal for center position 30 ¼”. A physical player that gets his hands up in pass protection and has the ability to set and redirect. Marshall Newhouse (Texas Christian) – 6031, 326, arms 33 3/8” and hands 10 1/8”. A hard-nosed versatile guard/tackle combination. Better than average athletic ability. Gets high at times when trapping and pulling.
