Marcus Cannon, New England Patriots, 138th Pick, 5th Round, 2011 NFL Draft

Cannon, Marcus TCU 6053 358 5.30
Three-year starter. A huge, block out the sun, athletic man with long arms and natural strength. Occupies target. Can mirror and slide in pass protection. Tendency to play high. Not a natural knee bender. Can be beat inside on a quick slant move. A mauler in the run game. Needs technique and fundamental work. Plays both in a preset pass stance or a three point stance. Plays with a good base. Will waist bend at times in pass protection instead of moving his feet. Gets to the second level in the run game and can wall off backside linebackers. Sometimes will take bad angles. Gets push on down blocks. Power packed legs and butt. Flashes a six-inch punch and effective use of hands at times. Marginal initial quickness. Maintains his balance when sliding with his man. Has some interesting tools. Plays left tackle. Will get a shot at right tackle, but may be moved inside. Could finish his blocks better.
