Edmond Gates, Miami Dolphins, 111th Pick, 4th Round, 2011 NFL Draft

Gates, Edmond Abilene Christian 5116 192 4.37
Started 32 games over four years. Rare vertical speed. Ran numerous “9” routes which is a deep route and the corners at his level couldn’t keep up. He blew the top off the coverage and got behind the secondary on a regular basis. Can make the over shoulder catch - right or left. No blind spots. Appears to have better than average hands. Can make the low ball or off target catches. Will compete for the ball. Will pluck and snatch the ball. Built like a sprinter. A good athlete who is slippery downfield after catch. Will not run you over, but has some elusiveness. A screen off type blocker who needs to get stronger and finish better. Needs pro route running development. Will shorten his arms at times going across the middle. For complete report see Ourlads Guide to the NFL Draft.
