Draft Rewind 2010 - Gerald McCoy - Tampa Bay Buccaneers
By

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about GERALD MCCOY: Oklahoma, 6041 295 5.11. Junior entry. Three-year starter. Cat-like quickness. When cut he bounces up and demonstrates outstanding athletic ability to get down the line and into pursuit. Good agility and body control. Uses a spin move to get off block and out of trouble. Inconsistent to fight pressure. Must escape on first move or can get walled off. Is generally “all in” on his first explosive gap penetration. He relies on his quickness to push the play deep. He plays within the scheme of the defense. Many times he takes himself out of a play because he can be single blocked. Good ability to disengage blocker and find the ball. Long arms and big hands. Question instincts at times, especially when fooled on screen passes when he takes the bait. His strength is more of a one gap penetrator as an under tackle in a four man front. Plays with good hip flex and knee bend, but gets rolled out if he gets too high. Plays quick, but not always strong. McCoy’s productivity over his career is not as good as several linemen that will be drafted after him. Edge speed:left 2.09, right 2.30. OSR:10/20. First round. (A-33 3/4, H-10 1/4, BP-23, 10-1.75).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about GOLDEN TATE: Notre Dame, 5101 199 4.46. Junior entry. Started 22 games. Explosive ascending receiver with top end athletic ability and strong hands. Exceptional eyehand coordination and runs like a running back after catch. Excellent foot quickness. Will run the ball on fly sweeps. Has good contact balance after making a tough catch. Good body control to lay out for a pass. Green and raw in all pass receiving skills. Few pass patterns are run the same way. Needs work on all his pass routes. However he does make defensive backs miss in space. Concentrates on ball to make the overhead catch. Good hands but will drop a ball at times. Smart and instinctive receiver with good football intelligence. Dropped a potential touchdown pass versus Michigan, but came back and snagged the ball and ran 21 yards for a touchdown. Catches the ball in a crowd. Will go up and pluck the ball. Excellent competitor. Does come back to the ball. Returns punts. Breaks tackles with his strong legs. A willing downfield blocker. Mentally and physically tough. Has all the tools, just needs to be refined. OSR:14/37. First/second round. (A-30 1/2, H-9 1/4, VJ-35, SS-4.36).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about JOHN CONNER: Kentucky, 5111 246 4.71. Started 26 games for the Wildcats. Consistent lead blocker in an I-formation. Thick upper and lower body. Runs his feet on contact. Takes pride in his blocking. A classic short-necked blocker that is physical kicking out or sealing an off tackle defender. Explosive leading the way on inside isolation plays. Road grader on the outside, blocking the perimeter in the lead option. Third guard. Blocks well on all levels. Collision football player. Not a negative yard rusher. Hammers the ball up inside between the tackles. Has toughs and courage. Productive in his role. Carried the ball 54 times for 247 yards averaging 4.6 yards per carry in his career. He has four rushing touchdowns, caught 25 passes for 193 yards, and 4 touchdowns. Functional receiver when called upon. Effective in pass pro. Will step up to take on blitz. Has a special teams demeanor and mentality. A good athlete that can adjust on the run. OSR:17/28. Fourth/fifth round. (A- 32, H-8 1/2, BP-24, SS-4.36).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about JIMMY GRAHAM: Miami, 6063 259 4.55. Started one game in the only year he played. Four-year basketball letterman, one year of college football. Still learning the game. High cut. Will need to work to bend his knees to play low. Struggles as a blocker. Good eye-hand coordination. Not a natural hand catcher. Cradles and traps the ball. Good straight line speed and leaping ability. Waits on ball instead of going up after it at the high point. Needs work in every phase of his game - patterns, coverage recognition, release, separation, catching the ball short and long, inline blocker, and downfield blocker. One speed player that is a developing size/speed prospect. Big target with long arms. Career and 2009 stats are 17 catches, 213 yards, 12.5 yards per catch, and 5 touchdowns. OSR: 1/13. Fourth/fifth round. (A-35, H-10 5/8, BP-DNP, VJ-38.5).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about CHRIS COOK: Virginia, 6016 212 4.45. Three-year starter. Rangy corner with good size. Can turn and run deep. Wrap tackler in run support. Needs to consciously work to bend his knees. Has a tendency to raise up and play too high then struggles to change direction. Athletic and smooth in his play. A good athlete with loose hips. Possesses good short area quickness for a cover-two corner. Good long speed to run and track vertical deep receivers. Some ball clubs may project him to free safety because of his size and range. Has an injury history and was suspended twice for academics. Not a dumb guy, just didn’t take care of business. Over his career he had 143 tackles, 19 passes broken up, and 7 interceptions. BTR:left 4.30, right 4.48. OSR:3/ 29. Second/third round. (A-32 1/2, H-9 3/8, VJ-38, SS-4.23).

A top effort, every down disruptive player that will punch and spin. Plays with explosiveness and leverage. Naturally strong. Shorter than ideal to play a 5-technique end in a 3-4 scheme. May be a one gap under tackle. Good body control. Stays on his feet. Keeps his balance. Uses a quick arm over move. Reads the play quickly. Good instincts. Disruptive. Forces hurries and pressures the quarterback. Good use of hands and feet. Physical tackler. Finishes the play. Performance not potential. Has 156 career tackles, 26 tackles for loss, 16 sacks, and 4 forced fumbles. Had a 35.5 vertical jump. Edge speed:left 2.02, right 2.16. OSR:26/35 for defensive ends. Third/fourth round. Athletic and smooth in drops and coverage. Always near the ball. Good instincts. Stays square and goes downhill and meets the back with leverage and power. Fills quickly and aggressively. Take on and shed. Good speed and effort to make plays on the perimeter. Takes smart angles. Fluid in his drops. Gets depth. Reads quarterback and reacts very well. Can play short man coverage and run deep down the middle with a tight end. Plays with a good base. Quickness to slip blockers. A hitter that can jolt the ball carrier. Plays the game with intensity and urgency. Quick take off on the blitz and uses his hands and speed to adjust on the move. Over his career he had 313 total tackles, 16 for loss, and 3 sacks. What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about JD WALTON: Baylor, 6025 300 5.23. A three-year starter that transferred from Arizona State. Has done both the shotgun snap in the spread and conventional snap to the quarterback under center. Position/wall off type blocker. Creates inside running lanes by turning the down defender. Solid on the block back or “choke” block. Plays on his feet. Good agility and balance in close quarters. Plays with a good base and works to finish his blocks. Will drop his head at times in pass protection but generally slides and adjusts his mirror to wall off defender. Good hand quickness to lock out and position hands on the breast plate and get push on his target. Strong and crafty, but needs to be more consistent with his ability to recover and anchor in pass protection. Good arm length for position. Can improve his lower body strength to anchor a bull rush. Generally plays with good knee bend. Consistent, tough, smart, and has outstanding leadership qualities. OSR: 27/40. Third/ fourth round. (A-33 3/8, H-9 1/4, BP-24, 10-1.79).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about ANTONIO BROWN: Central Michigan, 5101 186 4.59. Junior entry. Three-year starter. Plays faster than recorded forty time. Returned a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown. Runs several horizontal routes in their pass scheme - hitches, bubble screens, etc. Soft consistent hands to pluck the ball, put it away, and burst up the field. Central Michigan tried to get him in space where he wins battles with quickness and elusiveness. Ultra productive receiver that caught 305 passes in three years, good for 3199 yards, and 22 touchdowns. Good field vision and awareness. Plays on special teams as a punt and kickoff returner. Will need to learn all the NFL nuances of downfield route running because he hasn’t done it in their scheme. Had a good college quarterback feeding him the ball in Dan Lefevour. In the GMAC Bowl game he had 403 all-purpose yards. Has been durable over his career. In 2009 he caught 110 passes for 1198 yards, 10.9 average, and 9 touchdowns. OSR:35/ 37. Sixth/seventh round. (A-31, H-9, VJ-33.5, SS-4.18).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about BRYAN BULAGA: Iowa, 6053 314 5.26. Junior entry. Three-year starter with good athletic ability. Technically a very sound and patient left tackle. Big-10 Offensive Lineman of the Year. Plays square with a good base. Good lateral quickness to cut off and secure defenders away from the play. Smooth footwork in pass protection. Hands are up. Maintains width in the pocket to protect the quarterback. Effortless on twist stunts making the switch. Can redirect with natural body control. Shows attitude and aggression to engage initial contact with base, balance, and knee bend. Has an explosive six-inch punch to control opponent. Mirrors rusher. Quick react and recover to blitz pickup. Can wheel defender out of the hole. In the Georgia Tech game against probable first round pick, Derrick Morgan, Bulaga maintained good position on a spin move and maintained contact. Has the size, strength, balance, and base to anchor against power as long as he drops his weight and maintains his knee bend. Takes good steps and angles to cut off the second level sealing linebackers and creating seams for the backs to run through. Buries defensive tackles in the run game. Plays in a pro style zone blocking offense that puts him ahead of the NFL blocking learning curve. Can play any of the guard or tackle positions. OSR:18/40. First round. (A-33 1/4, H-9 1/4, BP-26, 10-1.78).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about DEMARYIUS THOMAS: Georgia Tech, 6032 224 4.60. Junior entry. Three-year starter. Big receiver in a run first spread triple option offense. Big play receiver that had seven of his catches go for at least 50 yards in 2009. Will reach and extend for the ball outside his frame. Average quickness off the line of scrimmage to beat bump coverage and burst upfield to separate. Saw a lot of single coverage because of the offensive scheme running the ball. Has the size and strength to run the inside slant and dig routes. Has run after catch ability to break a tackle or make a defender miss a tackle. Good football intelligence to learn to line up in different alignments. Will need work on reading coverages and adjusting his routes according to the play. Long strider that picks up speed as he goes down the field. Has big soft hands but will drop the easy catch when not focused. Perfunctory blocking effort. Average quickness into and out of his breaks. Inconsistent to drop weight. May miss all spring workouts because of fractured left foot. Averaged 25.1 yards per catch on 46 receptions and had 8 touchdowns in 2009. Second/ third round. (A-33, H-10 1/2, VJ-DNP, SS-DNP).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about GENO ATKINS: Georgia, 6013 293 4.85. Started 23 games in his career. Undersized for an inside run stuffer, but has a quick first step. In the Senior Bowl game he beat Mike Iupati for a sack with a nifty move and quick hands. Must play in a one gap penetrating scheme where he can be disruptive. Was our top rated defensive lineman athletically after the Combine. Arms shorter than ideal, but makes up for it with quickness. Explosive suddenness in his body. Will fit in a four man front rotation. Quick on inside twist stunts. Gets penetration and is disruptive. Has a field goal block to his credit. Productive over his college career with 106 tackles, 33 1/2 tackles for loss, and 11 sacks. Edge speed:left 2.01, right 2.24. OSR:1/20. Third/fourth round. (A-32, H-9 7/8, BP-34, 10-1.71).

Draft Rewind 2010 - Major Wright - Chicago Bears
By

8:37 AM
What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about MAJOR WRIGHT: Florida, 5114 206 4.47. Junior entry. Three-year starter. If the adage “first impressions are lasting” you will be unable to forget Major Wright exploding on the scene in the 2009 National Championship game against Oklahoma. He put a splash hit on receiver Juaquin Iglesias. What was just as impressive as the impact hit, was the timing of the collision to knock the ball out. Wright was penalized for a helmet to helmet hit, but his reputation as a big hitter was immortalized. He plays the game with intensity and passion. More athletic and faster in person than on tape. Has above average hip flexibility to turn and run deep. Not as smooth as a corner but more efficient than most safeties. Good football intelligence. Accurate key and quick reaction to what he reads. Has a nose for the ball. In a nutshell, he is a big hitting safety that needs to work on coverage skills. Will contribute on special teams. Good durability. Over his career he had 165 tackles, 10 passes broken up, 8 interceptions, and 4 forced fumbles. BTR:left 4.50, right 4.43. OSR:8/21. Third/ fourth round. (A-31, H-9 3/4, VJ-37.5, SS-4.38).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about TERRENCE CODY: Alabama, 6040 354 5.71. Two-year starter. Junior college transfer. Good feet for a big man. A two down power player with good balance. Tackle to tackle production. Has shown more discipline with his weight from the Senior Bowl (370) to Alabama’s pro day (347). Weighed in at 354 at the Combine. Will always struggle with his girth. Presses and pushes the pocket with his long arms and huge hands. Two gap inside nose tackle to occupy blockers and keep them off the linebackers. Good interior balance. Blocked two field goals against Tennessee to win the game. A people mover. Plays in a rotation. A 20-25 plays a game guy. Bull rusher only. Has a lot of question marks for a role player. Will be in demand because of his position. Had 44 career tackles, 10 1/2 for loss, and 1/2 sack. Edge speed:left 2.19, right 2.69. OSR:20/20. Second/third round. (A-34 1/4, H-11 1/4, BP-22, 10-1.97).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about DONALD
BUTLER: Washington, 6011 2235
4.65. Two-year starter. A good athlete that is instinctive. Explosive first
step. Uses hands well and takes good downhill angles. Tracks well when moving
forward and in space. Some hesitation in initial read but when he “sees it” he
is quick to the ball. Runs well and is a willing hitter. Lacks power at the
point of attack. Does not hold up well working against a lead block or a lineman
working to the second level. Gets bounced around inside and lacks lower body
power. Solid in coverage. Takes good drops and is athletic in transition. Good
zone awareness. Good motor. Struggles in the physical part of linebacker play,
but has some tools. In his career has 239 tackles, 27 for loss, 3 sacks, and 5
passes broken up. Did not participate at the Combine due to a right ankle
sprain. Third/ fourth round. (A-32 5/8, H-9 1/2, BP-35, SS-4.29).

Draft Rewind 2010 - Jason Pierre-Paul - New York Giants
By
proscoutdan
Posted at
7:00 AM
What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about JASON PIERRE-PAUL: South
Florida, 6046 270 4.76. Junior entry. Started seven games in college career.
Transferred from Fort Scott Community College after playing at the College of
the Canyons as a freshman. Football intelligence is a question mark. Can he
adjust to schemes quickly? Awareness? Does he learn quickly? He will need reps.
Extremely athletic. Speed rusher that plays on the same side as George Selvie at
times. Built like Simon Rice. Long arms and legs. Makes several plays from
backside when he went unblocked. Technique poor. One move player. When he sees
it he chases it. Can turn the corner and flatten down the line of scrimmage.
Lacks overall body strength to hold his ground in the run game at him. Gets
buried, bounced around, and bulldozed at times. Plays with his hand in the dirt
but will stand up at times. Lacks the strength to control a blocker. Slow to
disengage. Instincts are off. Gets his hands up as a pass rusher and will go for
the strip. Question mental toughness when he came out of games for nicks, then
returns. Plays on special teams. Gives a top effort rushing the passer. Has
God-given talents, but would be classified as a boom or bust player. In 2009 had
45 tackles, 6 1/2 sacks, 15 1/2 tackles for loss, 2 forced fumbles, 1
interception, 2 passes broken up, and 1 blocked kick. Edge speed:left 2.11,
right 2.05. Vertical jump 30.5, short shuttle 4.69, 3 cone 7.18. OSR:21/35.
First/second round. (A-34 3/4, H-10 3/8, BP-19, 10-1.68).

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about ERIC
BERRY:
Tennessee, 5115 211 4.45. Junior entry. Three-year starter. A safety with corner
skills. Versatile enough to play either free or strong safety and interchange
responsibilities and has the hip flexibility, foot quickness, change of
direction, and recoverability to play corner. Good intelligence. Can learn and
retain coverage schemes, awareness to recognize and analyze offensive set
tendencies, and react quickly to keys. Can make calls and communicate coverages
vocally. Has a fierce sense of competition. Plays with confidence and poise.
Mentally tough and durable. Good concentration and a high reaction IQ. Reads the
eyes of the quarterback. Good leadership qualities. Has long arms and
extraordinary leaping ability. Impact hitter that is always around the ball.
Alley player on run support. Ability to stay on his feet and play off blockers.
Lined up as a safety or as a linebacker/hybrid in the Tampa-2 system in 2009 and
excelled. Active and aggressive. Has tackling courage - heavy hitter. Did a
better job in 2009 of wrapping up as a tackler instead of just exploding on the
ball carrier. Slipped off a few tackles if he went high. Total package of
measurables, athletic ability, physical ability, intelligence, instincts,
intangibles, and leadership qualities. Will contribute on all special teams. One
of the top three players in the 2010 draft. Second in NCAA history with 494
interception return yards. SEC Defensive Player of the Year as a sophomore. Jim
Thorpe Award winner as the nation’s top defensive back. BTR:left 4.09, right
4.10. Had 19 reps of 225 and 6.80 on the 3-cone. OSR:2/21. First round. (A-33

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about JAHVID BEST: California,
5101 199 4.38. Junior entry. Two-year starter. An explosive and talented back
with quick reactions. Smooth North/South runner that finishes his runs. Plays
fast. Sudden into the hole and demonstrates unique running skills and instincts.
Has a natural feel for running the ball. Good vision. Has the ability to create
positive yardage on poorly blocked plays. Patient to the hole and lets the block
set up. Gives the defender a leg then takes it away. Can plant and cut without
the loss of speed. Can dip in and burst outside. Has a thick lower body and good

What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about SEAN LEE: Penn State, 6021 236 4.78. Three-year starter.
Projects to the outside because of angular build and lack of mass. May fit as an
inside linebacker for some 3-4 teams because of outstanding instincts. Has a
nose for the ball. Can adjust on the move. Gets through traffic and has good
ability to run to the ball. Outstanding football aptitude. Doesn’t get fooled on
play action and misdirection. Competitive. (He had to fight to get tackles on
his own team with Hull and Bowman). Has the range, speed, and lateral quickness
to be effective in downfield pursuit. Takes good angles. Can break up and make
an open field tackle. Plays with good knee bend and functional strength. A
wrap-up tackler that doesn’t give ground. Good recognition in zone coverage to
react, drop, turn, and get depth. Good mid and short area coverage and
awareness. Active and relentless in effort. Missed 2008 season with a torn ACL.
Had 324 career tackles, 29 1/2 tackles for loss, 11 sacks, and 17 passes broken
up. Personal protector for the punter. Will contribute on special teams.
