What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about GOLDEN TATE: Notre Dame, 5101 199 4.46. Junior entry. Started 22 games. Explosive ascending receiver with top end athletic ability and strong hands. Exceptional eyehand coordination and runs like a running back after catch. Excellent foot quickness. Will run the ball on fly sweeps. Has good contact balance after making a tough catch. Good body control to lay out for a pass. Green and raw in all pass receiving skills. Few pass patterns are run the same way. Needs work on all his pass routes. However he does make defensive backs miss in space. Concentrates on ball to make the overhead catch. Good hands but will drop a ball at times. Smart and instinctive receiver with good football intelligence. Dropped a potential touchdown pass versus Michigan, but came back and snagged the ball and ran 21 yards for a touchdown. Catches the ball in a crowd. Will go up and pluck the ball. Excellent competitor. Does come back to the ball. Returns punts. Breaks tackles with his strong legs. A willing downfield blocker. Mentally and physically tough. Has all the tools, just needs to be refined. OSR:14/37. First/second round. (A-30 1/2, H-9 1/4, VJ-35, SS-4.36).
