What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about ERIC WINSTON: Miami, 6065 310 4.94. Started 28 games. Played left tackle for the Hurricanes. Angular and thin-limbed build that is more finesse than powerful. Comes off the ball with a flat back. Sustains contact with defender. Lacks strength in his anchor (thin-hipped). Plays too high and doesn’t bend his knees consistently. Has talent and tools. Not as explosive and powerful as you’d like for a tackle. Recruited as a tight end. Struggled in 2005 in pass protection. Recovered from an ACL in 2004. Wall off position blocker. Good initial quickness. Can recover and redirect. Takes good downfield angles. Slips through and cuts off backside pursuit. Has shorter arms and smaller hands than ideal. Struggles with edge speed and two-move defensive ends. Lacks surge on run blocks. Tried to maul but doesn’t move his feet. Needs more overall strength. Gets up on his toes in pass protection. Can improve his hand use to control defenders. Strength is a major issue. Bunkley, from Florida State, drove him five yards in the backfield. Third or fourth round ability that will get drafted high because of athleticism. Second or third round. (A-32 1/4, H-9 1/4, BP-DNP, 10-1.70). Originally drafted by Houston.
