Johnny Patrick, New Orleans Saints, 88th Pick, 3rd Round, 2011 NFL Draft

Patrick, Johnny Louisville 5104 191 4.59
Three-and-a-half year starter. Average speed and athletic ability to play the position. A zone cover corner with good ball skills and foot quickness. Instinctive in his play, but can get caught looking in the backfield. Has some hip tightness in his backpedal and turn in man coverage. Needs to keep his butt and pad level down when backpedaling. Has a tendency to rise up. Has short arms. His below average leaping ability (32-inch vertical jump) may be a carryover from his ACL injury at the Senior Bowl. Came to Louisville as a receiver and moved to corner in 2007. Comes up quickly on run support. Good toughness. Will contribute on special teams coverage. Has played gunner on the punt team in the past. For complete report see Ourlads Guide to the NFL Draft.
