What Ourlads NFL Scouting Services said about JARED COOK: South Carolina, 6046 246 4.51. Junior entry. Started 15 games in three years. More athletic than football player. Needs to improve his blocking and receiving techniques. Long arms and big hands and a frame to gain bulk weight to increase his blocking strength. Former wide receiver. A vertical option from the slot or tight end position. Flashes a burst after catch. Never seemed to get into a playing rhythm with the erratic quarterback play. Lacks consistency in his game. More of a finesse type blocker. Lacks the inline functional strength to control ends and linebackers. Majored in short and underneath routes where he did not have to consistently separate from a defender. Struggled to adjust to an off target pass. Question football instincts, savvy, and intensity. A good athlete that needs developmental time. Was put on the bench in the Clemson game for a backup tight end. May struggle to learn a complex offensive scheme. Caught 37 passes for 573 yards in 2008. OSR:2/18. Fourth/ fifth round. (A-35 3/4, H-10 1/4, BP-23, VJ-41).
