Greg Jones and Von Miller and Other Linebacker Notes NFL Draft 2011

Inside Linebackers:
Greg Jones is versatile enough to play inside or outside in a variety of
schemes. Three down player. Quan Sturdivant has played both inside and
outside. Has a nose for the ball. Doesn’t stay blocked. Slips blocks and gets to
the ball. Kelvin Sheppard is a three down backer who has sideline to sideline
chase speed and is solid in coverage. Casey Matthews plays the game with
passion and a throttle that is wide open. Younger brother of the Packers’
Clay Matthews. Nate Irving was in on 91 tackles and had 21 ½ tackles for
loss. A remarkable senior year after missing the 2009 season due to severe
injuries in June ’09 car accident. Aggressive and explosive in his play.

Outside linebackers

Junior Akeem Ayers is an athletic height, weight, and speed linebacker who
can carry a tight end down the field in coverage, run a play down, or be
disruptive in blitz packages. Von Miller moved around to take advantage of
matchups. Usually double teamed. Struggles to separate from big tackles.
Played on a sprained ankle part of 2010 season. A 3-4 edge pass rush specialist.

his knee in the North Carolina State game on 11/20/10. Played in 11 games
making 57 tackles
