Cliff Matthews, Atlanta Falcons, 230th Pick, 7th Round, 2011 NFL Draft

Matthews, Cliff South Carolina 6034 257 4.86
Four-year starter and two time captain. Has played both right and left end positions in a four man front. Uses his long arms and quick hands to get off the block. Never quits moving. Needs more upper body strength to consistently stop the run at him. Plays with leverage and is quick to shed and locate the ball. Wards off the low block out of the backfield. Contains well and is hard to tie up on a reach block. Plays every play with a maximum effort. Hustles on plays away. Will dive and make arm and hand tackles. Against Auburn he missed a sack on Cam Newton, turned around and ran Newton down to force a fumble. May project as a 3-4 edge pass rusher. A developmental player with pro skills.
