East-West Shrine Game Defensive Backs

Jamar Wall (Texas Tech) – 5097, 204. Favorable impression during the week and played well on Saturday. Runs the route for the receiver in coverage. Good instincts. Can stick his foot in the ground and drive quickly on the ball. Squeezes receiver out of bounds on fade route. Quick hands and reactions. Alterraun Verner (UCLA) – 5096, 181. Will gamble and jump routes. Struggles with match-ups on big and strong receivers. Can lose a receiver that gives him double moves. Inconsistent tackler. Can be very good or slides off. Devin Ross (Arizona) – 5101, 184. A cover corner that can tackle in space. Quick to read and react to run or pass. Up quickly on run support. Excellent tackling skills. Aggressive and drives on the ball. TJ Ward (Oregon) – 5101, 199. Good week of practice. Physical run support safety with good range. Quick to read his keys to diagnose run or pass. Has coverage savvy and smarts. Darrell Stuckey (Kansas) – 5114, 207. Wrap up tackler that will be an asset on special teams. Quick to shed a block and get in on a play. Can cover tight ends and backs on short and medium routes. Better in team period than one on one drills. Chris Chancellor (Clemson) – 5091, 171. Quick feet. Smooth in backpedal. Nickel/dime type corner. Smaller than ideal but has timing and leaping ability in coverage. Good ball skills. Kam Chancellor (Virginia Tech) – 6032, 232. Huge safety that has a closing burst. Physical in his game. Goes for strip or breaks up passes with big hits. A good athlete with above average speed for size. Better in zone coverage because of his long legs. Struggles in transition. Barry Church (Toledo) – 6010, 218. Good instincts. Closes quickly on the ball in front of him. Breaks up a pass completion with a good hit. Plays better the closer he is to the line of scrimmage. Instinctive with zone awareness.
